About the circuit

The track

TT Circuit Assen in Drenthe is the home of the Dutch TT, which has been held in Assen since 1925. Known as the “Cathedral of Speed”, the 4.5 km circuit is fast and flowing, with long sweeping corners and changes of direction rather than heavy braking zones.

Signature corners

The Haarbocht at the end of the start-finish straight is the first big braking point. The Strubben hairpin is a key overtaking spot, and the fast Ruskenhoek and Stekkenwal sections reward a smooth line. The lap ends with the GT chicane, where many races have been decided on the last lap.

Who it suits

Assen is fast and flowing with good run-off, so it suits riders and drivers of most levels. It is a favourite for motorbike trackdays, and many organisers run separate groups for beginners and experienced riders.

Getting there

The circuit lies just south of Assen. Groningen is about 30 km away, and Groningen Airport Eelde is the nearest airport, about 25 minutes by car. From Amsterdam it is roughly a two-hour drive.
