About the circuit
The track
Circuit Zandvoort winds through the dunes right behind the North Sea beach. The 4.3 km lap is narrow, fast and full of elevation changes, and wind can blow sand onto the racing line, so grip changes from session to session. Formula 1 came back here in 2021 after 36 years away.
Signature corners
Tarzan, the hairpin at the end of the main straight, is the classic place to brake late. Hugenholtz is a steeply banked left-hander, and Scheivlak is a fast, blind right-hander down the dune that tests your commitment. The lap ends with the banked Arie Luyendyk corner onto the straight.
Who it suits
Zandvoort rewards precision more than bravery. Run-off is limited and the noise limits are strict because of the surrounding dunes, so a quiet car and a measured approach pay off. Experienced drivers love its rhythm; beginners do best on a day with an instructor.
Getting there
The circuit is on the edge of Zandvoort, about 30 km west of Amsterdam and close to Haarlem. Zandvoort aan Zee railway station is about a 15-minute walk away. The nearest airport is Amsterdam Schiphol, roughly 30 minutes by car.
