About the circuit

The track

The Circuit Dijon-Prenois lies in the hills just outside Dijon, in Burgundy. Opened in 1972, it hosted the French Grand Prix several times, including the 1979 race remembered for the wheel-to-wheel duel between Gilles Villeneuve and René Arnoux. The 3.8 km lap rises and falls with the landscape.

Signature corners

The circuit is short but fast, with long, sweeping corners and steep downhill and uphill sections that make the car feel light and then heavy. Carrying speed through the quick sequences matters more than braking late.

Who it suits

Dijon-Prenois is fast and rolling, with quick changes of direction, so it suits drivers with some track experience who enjoy commitment. It is a favourite of British, Dutch and Belgian organisers, and beginners do best on a day with tuition.

Getting there

The circuit is in Prenois, about 15 km north-west of Dijon. Dijon has a high-speed rail station with direct trains from Paris (about 1 hour 40 minutes). Lyon airport is about two hours away by car.
