About the circuit

The track

The modern Grand Prix circuit of the Nürburgring opened in 1984 next to the Nordschleife. The 5.1 km lap is wide and well equipped, with large asphalt and gravel run-off areas and long, clear sight lines. It shares the paddock and facilities with its famous neighbour.

Signature corners

The first corner, the Mercedes Arena, is a tight sequence that rewards a clean exit. The Dunlop hairpin at the bottom of the hill is a big braking zone, followed by the fast Schumacher S. The lap ends with the slow Veedol chicane before the start-finish straight.

Who it suits

The GP track is wide and forgiving, with generous run-off: one of the best places in Germany for a first trackday or for learning a new car. Experienced drivers use it to work on lap times in a safe setting.

Getting there

The circuit is at Nürburg in the Eifel, near Adenau, about 60 km west of Koblenz. Cologne/Bonn airport is about an hour by car. The nearest railway stations are some distance away, so most visitors arrive by car.
