About the circuit
The track
The Misano World Circuit lies close to the Adriatic coast just south of Rimini, in the heart of Italy's motorcycle country. Since 2012 it has carried the name of Marco Simoncelli, the local rider who died in 2011. The 4.226 km lap has run clockwise since 2007, when the circuit was rebuilt. It hosts the San Marino motorcycle Grand Prix and rounds of the Superbike World Championship.
Signature corners
The lap mixes slow, tight corners with fast sections. The highlight is the Curvone, a very fast right-hander where riders go flat out, followed by heavy braking for the Quercia. The final corners lead back onto the main straight in front of the grandstands.
Who it suits
Misano is a friendly circuit to learn: it is flat, compact and easy to get to know in a few sessions. Trackdays here are run mostly by Italian motorbike organisers; Trackstr lists the circuit's race weekends and the organisers' dates.
