The track
Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps runs for seven kilometres through the forested hills of the Ardennes. The lap climbs and drops by around 100 metres, and the weather is famous for changing between one part of the track and another, so it can be dry at La Source and wet at Blanchimont.
Signature corners
Eau Rouge and Raidillon, the steep left-right-left climb after the start, is one of the best-known sequences in motorsport. Pouhon is a fast double-apex left-hander that rewards commitment, and Blanchimont is a flat-out left before the Bus Stop chicane. La Source, the tight hairpin after the start line, is where most overtaking happens.
Who it suits
Spa is fast and long, so it suits drivers who already know their car on track. Wide modern run-off helps, but speeds are high. First-timers do best on a day with an instructor. Spa’s noise categories differ between weekdays and weekends, so check the limit for your date.
