About the circuit

The track

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya lies at Montmeló, about 25 km north of Barcelona. It opened in 1991 and has hosted the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix ever since, as well as the Catalan motorcycle Grand Prix from 1992. The 4.657 km lap has a main straight of more than a kilometre and a mix of corners that tests every part of a car, which is why it has long been a favourite for pre-season testing.

Signature corners

The straight ends in heavy braking for Elf, turn 1. The long, fast right-hander after it, Renault, loads the tyres for several seconds. Campsa is a fast, blind corner over a crest, and the slow La Caixa hairpin is the main overtaking spot after the back straight.

Who it suits

Barcelona is a great place to understand your car or bike: there is a bit of everything. The circuit's own website may not be reused, so Trackstr lists the dates of organisers who run trackdays and rider trainings here, with the noise limit per date where it is published.

Getting there

Take the AP-7 or C-17 north from Barcelona to Montmeló. Barcelona airport is about 40 minutes away by car, and local trains stop at Montmeló station, a walk from the circuit.
