About the circuit
The track
Donington Park, in the Midlands, is one of the oldest racing venues in Britain. In 1993 it hosted the European Grand Prix, famous for Ayrton Senna’s opening lap in the rain. The 4.0 km Grand Prix circuit adds the Melbourne Loop to the shorter National layout that most trackdays use.
Signature corners
The Craner Curves are a fast, downhill series of bends that reward commitment and a smooth line. The Old Hairpin and McLeans follow, then the climb to Coppice. On the Grand Prix layout, the Melbourne Loop adds a tight hairpin and Goddards, a slow right-hander before the start line.
Who it suits
Donington has fast, flowing sections and generous run-off, so it suits drivers of most levels. The National layout is a good first circuit, and the Craner Curves give experienced drivers plenty to work on. Noise limits vary per day.
Getting there
The circuit is near Castle Donington, between Derby and Nottingham, close to the M1. East Midlands Airport is right next to the circuit, and Birmingham airport is about 45 minutes away by car.
