About the circuit
The track
The Nürburgring Nordschleife, the “Green Hell”, winds for 20.8 km through the Eifel forest. Built in the 1920s, it has blind crests, compressions and jumps, very little run-off and a surface that changes from corner to corner. On Touristenfahrten days it is open to the public as a toll road.
Signature corners
The Karussell is a steeply banked concrete hairpin where you dive into the bowl. Flugplatz is a crest where cars go light, Fuchsröhre a fast downhill compression, and Adenauer Forst a tight chicane right after it. Pflanzgarten has jumps, and the long Döttinger Höhe straight leads back to the start.
Who it suits
The Nordschleife takes years to learn. It suits experienced drivers with a well-prepared car. Newcomers should start with instructed laps, a course or a passenger ride, and build up slowly: crashes here are costly.
Getting there
The track surrounds the village of Nürburg, near Adenau, about 60 km west of Koblenz. Cologne/Bonn airport is about an hour away by car; Frankfurt is roughly two hours.
