About the circuit

The track

The Autodromo Nazionale Monza was built in 1922 inside the royal park of Monza, north of Milan, which makes it one of the oldest permanent circuits in the world. It has hosted the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix in every season but one since 1950. The modern lap is 5.793 km long, and parts of the old high-speed banking still stand in the park.

Signature corners

The lap is a sequence of long straights broken by chicanes: the Variante del Rettifilo after the start, the sweeping Curva Grande, the Variante della Roggia and the two Lesmo corners. The fast Variante Ascari leads onto the back straight, and the long Parabolica, now named after Michele Alboreto, brings you back onto the main straight.

Who it suits

Monza is about top speed and braking: getting the chicanes right is what makes a fast lap. Trackstr lists Monza's own calendar of races and track events, including driving experiences and test days; check each date to see who can take part.

Getting there

The circuit is in the park on the north side of Monza, about 20 km from the centre of Milan. Milan Linate airport is roughly 30 minutes away, and trains run from Milan to Monza station.
