About the circuit
The track
The Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto lies in the hills just east of Jerez de la Frontera in Andalusia. It opened in 1985 and has hosted the Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix almost every year since 1987. Formula 1 raced here too, including the 1997 European Grand Prix that decided the world title. The lap is 4.428 km long, with a mix of fast sweepers, hairpins and quick direction changes. Its mild winters make it a regular venue for winter testing.
Signature corners
Many corners are named after Spanish riders: Sito Pons, Crivillé, Aspar, Ángel Nieto and Peluqui. The tight Dry Sac hairpin after the back straight is a favourite overtaking spot, and the final corner, named after Jorge Lorenzo, has decided many motorcycle races on the last lap.
Who it suits
Jerez rewards smooth, precise driving: it is less about top speed and more about carrying speed through linked corners. Trackdays and rider trainings here are mostly organised by motorbike specialists; Trackstr shows the noise limit per date where the organiser publishes it.
Getting there
